Moral Therapy Model

This model is commonly known by the public and the approach is usually done by religious / moral emphasis on sin and weakness of individuals. This therapy model is applied to correct the environmental community still adhere to religious values and morality in the place of origin, because this model run in conjunction with the concept of good and evil is taught by religion. It is not surprising that the moral treatment model that is the main basis for justifying legal power to fight drug abuse.

Social Therapy Model

These models use the concept of community therapy program, where addiction to drugs is seen as a social aberration phenomenon (social disorder). The purpose of this therapy model is to direct the behavior of these aberrant social behavior toward a more decent. This is based on the realization that most drug addicts are almost always involved in social action, including a criminal action. The advantages of this model is the attention to the behavior of addiction treatment is concerned, not on drugs misuse. Practically can be done through lectures, seminars, and especially therapy groups (encounter groups). The goal is not to train the social responsibility of each individual, so that the mistakes done one person becomes the responsibility together. This is the uniqueness of the model of social therapy, which enable such communities as agents of change (agent of change.

Medical Therapy Model

This model stems from a number of concepts in the theory of physiological or metabolism, which looked at the behavior of drug addiction as something that happens because the aetiological factors or descent. There are two types of therapy models based on these concepts.

First, the concept of cure drug addiction by using other drugs. An example is the model of methadone treatment for opiate addicts. This therapy is based on a theory of Dole and Nyswander that opiate addiction is the result of metabolic deficiencies, so be corrected by providing methadone.

Second, the concept of cure drug addiction by way of looking at drug treatment. Biological theory of this approach was born the concept of "disease" which when translated means "disease", or it could also be interpreted as discomfort. Therapy for the concept of "disease" is very different from that seen behavior therapy addiction as a social aberration. In this therapy is considered an addict as a patient, where they will be coached and monitored closely by team doctors. The weakness of this therapy is that it "hard", where patients rehabilitated with the concept of allergy. Because the patient has allergies to drugs, then they should not consume a lifetime.

Recognizing these limitations, the concept of addiction as a disease is very concerned associations (fellowship) of those who have the disease to drug addiction support each other.
